Material Selection Guide
Our extensive plastic extrusion material selection produce a wide range of sizes and shapes in both rigid and flexible custom profiles, rods and tubes. Materials are available in natural, clear, translucent, transparent, fluorescent and custom colors. We can manufacture to your specifications and/or assist in design and make material recommendations for your specific application.
The following list are some examples of our manufacturing materials:*
Polyolefins:
- Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE)
- High Density Polyethylene (HDPE)
- Ultra High Molecular Polyethylene (UHMWPE)
- Polypropylene – Huntsman, DuPont, Chevron Chemical, Eastman Chemical, Equistar Chemical,
Westlake Chemical and PolyOne.
Features/Benefits: Excellent water absorption, chemical resistance, light-weight, high and low temperature range, ease of fabrication and formability, FDA 21 CFR Compounds and NSF-listed.
Polystyrenes:
- General Purpose
- High Impact Styrene
- Acrylonitrile/Butadiene/Styrene (ABS) – Bayer, Dow Plastics
Features/Benefits: Resistant to load, impact strength, chemically inert, machine-ability, non-toxicity, toughness, mechanical properties.
Polyurethanes:
- General purpose (ether or ester base) – BASF, Dow Plastics
Features/Benefits: Abrasion resistance, wide range of durometer hardness, high/low temperature, lubricant/fuel/oil/grease resistance.
Thermoplastic Elastomers:
- TPE – Santoprene®
Features/Benefits: UV/Ozone resistance, chemically compatible, weather resistance, high and low temperature range, resists abrasion.
Acrylics:
- Polycarbonate Extruded tubes and profiles – Acrylite®, Lexan®, Lucite International
Features/Benefits: Age resistant, impact strength, low deformation, clarity, UV light resistant.
Vinyls:
- Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) – AlphaGary and Teknor Apex, Geon, Georgia Gulf, Unichem
Features/Benefits: Flexible or rigid, chemical and weather resistance, lightweight, FDA 21 CFR Compounds and NSF-listed.
Nylons:
- Types available: 6/6, 11 & 12
Features/Benefits: Natural, black or custom colors, semi-flexible, moisture absorption resistant, high pressures, excellent weather resistance.
